Another Super Weekend

This might just be the first time in almost three months wherein it would be two straight weeks at number one for a film. Then again, I could be wrong. This would not be the first time it would happen. After all, there would be a host of new releases that would slug it out for audiences’ attention.

Still, I do see Superbad remaining on top of the heap. First off, the comedy is still receiving a large share of public relations from the press. Most write-ups focuses on the team of Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen. Of course, the good word-of-mouth it has been receiving has been non-stop. So, the momentum is there and for a comedy, it is proving to have the legs.

Another thing is, the new releases are not exactly the kind that would topple records. None of them are what one could classify as highly anticipated. War, starring Jet Li and Jason Statham could become the spoiler as the action duo could entice mostly male crowds to flock to the theaters. Others competing for glory are Mr. Bean’s Holiday, Resurrecting The Champ and The Nanny Diaries.
