A lot of pundits in the movie industry are already touting Leatherheads as the number one film this weekend. I say, do not cross that line so fast. Even a stellar cast of George Clooney and Renee Zellweger will not guarantee a kick-off return for a film that is a throwback to the comedies of yesteryears.

21 was the surprise hit last weekend. While it was hardly a gamble to pick it as number one last week, the figures were still hard to believe. So, do not cross it out as the number one film this coming weekend either.

Ah, blasphemy, you might say! Clooney being held from the top spot. Yes, I admit. Clooeny could be the last movie star of this era. He is a gifted actor and maybe even better as a director. But a bankable star? We will delve on it later on in the coming week. For now, remember that Leatherheads would only falter.
