This weekend’s showdown at the box office will mark the return of Keanu Reeves in an action flick. Just a straight-up guy film. On the other end of the spectrum, Prom Night tries to cash in on the teenagers’ desire to watch something scary, not to mention stupid. Both films will try to unseat two-time champion 21.
Street Kings evokes the memory of one of my all-time favorite films, Training Day. Why not, it is directed by the sma guy who wrote the flick. Here, David Ayer goes back to a story of bad cops and how they operate. This time though, he distances away from acclaimed actor Denzel Washington and casts acclaimed for bad acting Reeves.
Prom Night has Brittany Snow and a slew of unknown actors as bait for the film’s killer. See, some films succeed in scaring audiences and others succeed in scaring them away from theaters. The marketing has been terrific so it might even do the former this weekend then do the latter in the next few weeks.
