The animated film Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who became the year’s biggest blockbuster yet as it came stomping to the cash register with a gigantic $45 million take over the weekend. The film, which showcased the comedic talents, at least voice-wise, of Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell carried the long Hollywood box office slump out and infused new life to the sagging business.
Other than the animated pic, however, there were still no signs of life among the newcomers. Still, the huge outpour of support for the number one film was enough to lift the sales of tickets that has been down for most of the year. Even better news is the way most critics received the film, which is vital for it to have staying power.
Last week’s box office hero, 10,000 B.C. barely hung to second place as it suffered a big declien in sales, coming up with a distant $16 million take. For this week, it was unable to stop the mammoth opening of Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who.

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who is classic, i forgot how much that guy packed into such simple storylines… they didn’t add much to the original story either except for the usual Jim Carreyisms.
Did the “Jim Carreyisms” as you so eloquently put it contribute to your enjoyment or did it serve no purpose in the flick whatsoever?
Thanks for dropping by, Patrick!
