I feel Renee Zellweger is appreciated by the critics but is slighted by audiences most of the
time. All people see her Bridget Jones. Some audiences think she is too soft-spoken and does not possess those sexy Angelina Jolie-figure or even Cameron Diaz-charm.
This is one of the few instances where moviegoers got it wrong. Zelleweger is one of the better actresses in Hollywood. Her Oscar win as Best Supporting Actress for her memorable turn in Cold Mountain is a testament to her talents. She is an ethereal beauty too. Sadly, it does not turn into more fans.
The last time I felt people actually thought she was a stunning beauty was in Jerry Maguire. It was a helluva performance that got viewers since hello. Then, she was appearing in duds like Nurse Betty all of a sudden. Nevertheless, she was still lauded for her performances up until Chicago. That film was a major hit critically and financially, thanks in no small part to Zellweger.
Maybe, a few romantic comedies would make her more appreciated by many. She deserves it.
