The Emmy Awards were held just a few days ago. Of course, being an awards show, it has its share of second-guessing. A lot of people are questioning the snubs, as well as some of the choices. There were the usual surprises and the expected big winners. While it was an affair for television superstars, it should be noted that some of the winners, even some of the losers have made their mark in the silver screen.
In fact, this year’s Oscar winner for Best Actress also won over the television academy. Helen Mirren won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries. FYI, it was Mirren’s second straight win in the same category. Also making a mark as Outstanding Lead Actress, Drama Series was Sally Field. Herself a former Oscar-winning actress, Field bested the field (no pun intended) for her first season in television after so many years guesting in television and working in movies.
Others who won and have been movie stars for quite a few times as well were Tina Fey for her show 30 Rock, James Spader who once again won the coveted Outstanding lead Actor in a Drama Series, Katherine Heigl of the summer movie blockbuster Knocked Up, got her first Emmy win as Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role, Drama Series, and screen legend Robert Duvall, for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.
