Add another failure for Hollywood this season. The holiday season is creeping up but a holiday flick suffered the brunt of the blues over the weekend. The long in title but short on fun that is Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium fizzled at the box office completely. The film finished at number five over the weekend, on its debut at that with a not-so-magical $9.6 million.
Not even Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman could attract the viewers from watching the family film. With Beowulf, Bee Movie and Fred Claus all attracting almost the same target audience, the film had nowhere to go but down. To make things worse, it actually opened in more theaters than the number one film of the weekend.
Critics have also been less kind with their reviews. Critically panned, financial disaster. That is just on its first week. The film bombed and the blame goes to everyone.
