To be fair, Nick Nolte also lost it to Roberto Benigni. The Italian’s performance in Life Is Beautiful was an upset without undermining his wonderful portrayal.

2003 – Adrien Brody’s kiss to halle Berry was unforgettable but it should bot be failed to mention that his win over stalwarts Jack Nicholson and Nicolas Cage was noteworthy too. Although his performance in The Pianist got him the upset, a lot of men are more envious with that kiss.

1962 – This is a bit of an upset since Gregory Peck, in one of his most memorable roles in To Kill A Mockingbird eventually won out, was a sentimental favorite. Think Martin Scorsese on this one. However, it was the closest Peter O’Toole ever got to winning that elusive Oscar too. Tsk tsk.
