Jon Stewart, the controversial late-night talk show host, would reprise the role that earned him mixed reviews just last year: host of the Academy Awards night. Yes, the one-time Oscar host is going for laughter for a second time. The 80th edition of the Oscars will be next year but the people fond of it are already not sure if it would be a great idea to bring back Stewart.

After last year’s gig, people frowned at the host’s intelligent kind of humor and mix of wit and sarcasm, while others rejoiced as he was able to bring his celebrated candor to millions of viewers and to everyone in attendance. Still, the telecast dropped by 8 percent, which could be a factor in the hiring of Ellen DeGeneres in this year’s Oscars.

The 80th Oscars would be held live on February 24 from the Kodak Theatre.
